Work always stands in the way of me visiting my mother on Mother’s day but last year I called my boss the previous night telling him bluntly that I would like to take a leave for the whole week although I had some important documents to work on. This surely didn’t get unrewarded. My mother asked me to pay the electricity bill; I took out her purse and made a remarkable discovery. Tucked away in a tiny compartment were six Mother’s Day poems I’d written her in my teenage days! She had saved and cherished those simple gifts for so many years! What a happy surprise!
I wonder what this Mother’s Day has in store for me. I’ve noticed my two children, Chloe and my canine son, Clay, working on something very seriously. They have set up a tent with a sign “workshop” in their room which I’m not allowed to enter.
I’m getting MY mother a personalized tote bag (she is unusually fond of them) and loads of love and kisses.
I wonder what you are giving your mother this Mother’s Day! Do let us know!
Usually most of us do not want to be our “mother’s daughter”. But you cannot deny that when it comes to getting our nails done, we are.
Happy Mother’s Day!
